Surgical Research and Genitourinary Engineering (SURGE) Lab
The SURGE Lab is a surgical simulation lab that specializes in the development of anatomical models to train surgical skills. Through our research, we aim to drive measurable improvements in surgical performance and patient outcomes through realistic model-based education experiences.
Surgical simulation allows medical professionals to practice or learn surgical skills in a low-risk environment. Our models react similarly to tissues, allowing us to realistically simulate complex surgical procedures related to robotic surgery, minimally invasive procedures, and more. We also develop patient-specific models that allow surgeons to familiarize themselves with the anatomy of a challenging case prior to the actual procedure.
