Rendering of the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center

Join UR Medicine's Wilmot Cancer Institute and Noyes Health and Jones Memorial Hospital for the groundbreaking of the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The event, which will begin at 10 a.m. on the campus of Noyes Health, is open to the public and will include a short program and reception.

The Myers Cancer Center, announced in April, will provide patients in the region more convenient access to comprehensive cancer care. Construction is expected to be complete by late 2016.

Named for the Springwater, Livingston County, couple who gave $2 million to establish the center, the project includes:

• A 4,500-square-foot, lower-level addition on the Red Jacket Street side of Noyes Hospital to house a radiation oncology clinic.
• A 2,300-square-foot medical oncology clinic in renovated and new first-floor space at Noyes, featuring three exam rooms and five chemotherapy/infusion bays.
• A medical oncology center at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, which opened in mid-September, allowing patients to receive follow-up care and consultations closer to home.
• UR Medicine’s recently purchased radiation oncology practice in Hornell, which complements a medical oncology practice co-located in the same building.

The full project has an estimated cost of $8 million. UR Medicine, Noyes and Jones each agreed to contribute $1 million in assets to the cancer center project. Additional funds are being raised by the community to support the project.
