Free Workshops to Help Faith Community Address Mental Health Concerns

The University of Rochester’s Office of Mental Health Promotion, along with several community partners, is offering free workshops in mental health ministry, beginning May 30.

Partnering agencies include the U of R’s Aging Well Initiative, Interdenominational Health Ministry Coalition, Mental Health Association of Rochester, Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency and Trillium Health.

This second installment of the class, called "Renewing of the Mind," will assist clergy and lay leaders who deal with a wide range of mental health issues faced by their parishioners. Issues include overdose prevention, child abuse, domestic violence, mental health advocacy, and adolescent mental health.

 

The free workshops will be held May 30, July 25, September 26, November 21, and January 23, 2016. All classes begin at 9 a.m. and are held at the Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency, 1150 University Ave., Building #5 (in the rear), in Rochester.
