Daniel Cavallo, M.B.A., C.P.A., URMFG senior financial director

聽In a nod to the growing complexities of health care finances, the University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group (URMFG) has tapped international financial expert Daniel Cavallo, M.B.A., C.P.A., as its senior financial director.聽 This is a newly created position for URMFG, which is made up of 1,200 physicians dedicated to clinical care, research, teaching and community service.聽 URMFG is the largest medical faculty group outside of the New York city region and several of its specialty programs were recently recognized by US News and World Report. 聽

鈥淎s a new financial landscape emerges from healthcare reform, including new reimbursement methodologies and an emphasis on contracts tied to performance, it鈥檚 vital that URMFG has a seasoned financial professional at the helm,鈥� said URMFG CEO Michael F. Rotondo, M.D., F.A.C.S. 鈥淒ani will also play a critical role in our continued quest to develop as a resilient, integrated multispecialty practice rooted in fiscal discipline and organizational alignment.鈥�

Cavallo will report directly to URMFG鈥檚 CEO, and will function as a key member of URMC鈥檚 senior financial team under the leadership of URMC鈥檚 Chief Financial Officer David Kirshner.聽 He鈥檒l also work with department leadership to facilitate growth and meet financial metrics, and will direct the activities of URMFG鈥檚 Finance, Business and Contracting divisions.

With more than two decades of financial experience, Cavallo is uniquely suited for this position.聽 He comes to URMFG from Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, where he served as director of financial services for Emory鈥檚 Physician Group Practices.聽 He also held an adjunct instructor position at its Rollins School of Public Health, teaching financial and managerial accounting for not-for-profit and for-profit organizations. While at Emory, his accomplishments included implementation of a new financial management system; introducing a new reporting, budgeting and cost accounting system; and developing web-based productivity analytics.

Prior to his tenure at Emory, Cavallo鈥檚 broad base of experience includes a variety of audit and accounting positions聽of聽increasing responsibility聽in private and public international organizations both in the United States and in Europe.聽 He holds an MBA from Emory University and a bachelor of science in Accounting/Swiss CPA from the Swiss Accountancy Academy in Zurich, Switzerland.

Cavallo resides in Pittsford with his wife and two young daughters. 聽
