Obesity
Make Appointments & Get Care
Overview
Obesity is a chronic disease that affects about one in three adults. Those who are obese are at higher risk for illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gallstones, joint problems, heart disease, and cancer.
UR Medicine's Treatments for Obesity
UR Medicine’s specialized Obesity/Diabetes Clinic offers physician-guided lifestyle programs, medications, and endoscopic and surgical options to help you lose weight.
A physical exam and possibly blood tests help us identify conditions such as diabetes or others that can cause obesity. For surgical consultations, we work with your physician, along with our surgeons and dietitians, to determine your potential for long-term success.
