Wilmot Science Training Program for Deaf High School Students Expands Across the U.S.

For four years, the Wilmot Cancer Institute has run a summer internship program to expose local Deaf high school students to cancer-related healthcare and research careers they might not otherwise consider. With support from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Wilmot will expand that program to provide science education internship opportunities to Deaf high school students at four partner sites across the U.S.

Alumnus Wyatte Hall Awarded $3.4 Million to Study Language Acquisition in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children

Wyatte Hall, G-’11 & PhD ’14, an assistant professor of Public Health Sciences at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ, has been awarded a $3.4 million grant from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). Hall, who was the first graduate of the UR Clinical Translational Science Institute-supported Rochester Postdoctoral Partnership, will track language acquisition outcomes for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children with the five-year grant.
